New Business Forum to Strengthen Vietnam-US Cooperation in the Fields of Technology and Innovation

On the occasion of the High-Level Week of the 78th Session of the United Nations General Assembly and bilateral activities in the United States, on the morning of September 18 at local time in San Francisco, California, the Prime Minister of Viet Nam, Pham Minh Chinh attended the "Vietnam and United States Business Forum – Technology and Innovation Cooperation". Attending the Forum were members of the high-ranking Vietnamese delegation and many Vietnamese and US business leaders.

Speaking at the “Vietnam and United States Business Forum – Technology and Innovation Cooperation” organized by the Ministry of Planning and Investment in collaboration with the Vietnamese Consulate General in San Francisco and the US-ASEAN Business Council, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh highlighted the great progress in Vietnam-US relations. Currently, bilateral trade relations are growing stronger than ever, and will grow even faster as the two countries have just established a comprehensive strategic partnership.

Currently, Vietnam is implementing three strategic breakthroughs in institutional reform, infrastructure development and human resource training, including in the fields of digital technology, energy transformation, green transformation, and circular and sharing economy, etc.

Vietnam agrees that "investors' success is its own success", believing that with a good foundation and favorable momentum for cooperative development, businesses from the two countries will continue to promote cooperation and investment.

Responding to the Prime Minister's comments, representatives of businesses from the two countries had open, frank and substantive exchanges on cooperative investment opportunities, focusing on the fields of technology and innovation; and expressed desire to participate in Vietnam's digital transformation process.

Business representatives also requested the Governments to continue promoting connection between people and businesses of the two countries in production and technology application; develop the field of technology, innovation, semiconductor, remote sensing, artificial intelligence, big data; especially training high-quality human resources to meet the needs of businesses in both countries.

At the Forum, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and delegates witnessed the awarding ceremony of several cooperation agreements: State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC), Vietnam Pharmaceutical Corporation (Vinapharm) and Biomed awarded a cooperation and joint venture agreement to establish a company for manufacturing and clinically testing Biomed's biopharmaceutical products and invest in building an R&D Center in Vietnam; Viet Nam Posts and Telecommunications (VNPT) and Qualcomm Incorporated (QTI) awarded a cooperation agreement to transfer the rights to use QTI's technology and equipment to VNPT in the field of digital technology; Mobifone Corporation and Jupiter Networks signed an agreement on cooperation in the field of data center construction and cloud computing service; Rikkeisoft Vietnam and RKTech USA signed an agreement to invest in establishing an RKTech America office in Dallas, Texas to design and develop computer software, mobile applications and consulting services.
