Overview of the working session

During the meeting, SCIC and OIA exchanged updates on recent activities and discussed economic and investment cooperation opportunities. Notably, as Viet Nam enters a new era of national development, the SCIC delegation shared details of the government-approved Development Strategy aimed at promoting investment and attracting international capital to serve socioeconomic development and contribute to Viet Nam’s overall economic growth. Focus areas included joint projects in sectors of mutual interest such as seaports, banking, technology, and infrastructure. Both parties also agreed to immediately study the establishment of a joint investment fund involving SCIC, OIA, and QIA (Qatar) in the near future.

Viet Nam and Oman established diplomatic relations on June 9, 1992. The two countries formed the Mixed Committee on Economic and Technical Cooperation in 2008, leading to the establishment of the Viet Nam-Oman Investment JSC (VOI).

VOI is a highlight of Viet Nam-Oman investment cooperation, with successful projects in essential sectors such as agriculture, renewable energy, infrastructure, hydropower, and clean water treatment. From an initial committed capital of $100 million in 2009, VOI has disbursed over $384 million to date, becoming a model for Middle Eastern investment in Viet Nam.
