SCIC explores opportunities with world-renowned IMD Business School to elevate Viet Nam’s SOEs

HANOI, Viet Nam, May 15, 2024 – At the head office of the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC), Deputy General Director Le Thanh Tuan and representatives of SCIC's functional departments received and worked with a delegation from IMD Business School led by Dr. Misiek Piskorski, Dean of IMD Asia and Oceania.

Overview of the working session between SCIC and IMD Asia-Oceania

During the working session, Dr. Misiek Piskorski introduced IMD Business School, which is one of the world's top-ranked schools for MBA and other business education programs, as evidenced by assessments and rankings from prestigious research organizations and journals such as: Ranked 1st among the top 6 flexible training programs worldwide for 24 years by the Financial Times; Ranked first among international 1-year MBA programs by Forbes in 2019, 2017, 2013, 2011, 2007 and 2001; Won 8 Gold awards for creative learning experiences at the 2023 Brandon Hall Technology Awards; Ranked in the top 5 globally according to The Case Center Impact Index 2023, which assesses the research impact of business case studies; and IMD was also the most published organization after Harvard and MIT in the Harvard Business Review and Sloan Management Review from 2019-2023.

Delegation of IMD Asia-Oceania

According to Dr. Misiek Piskorski, the IMD Asia-Oceania branch is also expanding in scale and scope, with a presence in many countries such as Japan, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. Recently, IMD Asia-Oceania marked its presence in Viet Nam by supporting digital transformation training for Techcombank's executives. For government agencies and state-owned enterprise management organizations, IMD Asia-Oceania offers many training activities to strengthen organizational structure and leadership at state-owned enterprises, enabling them to overcome current challenges and serve strategic, sustainable purposes. Indonesia is a country where IMD Asia-Oceania has had the opportunity to cooperate and work in-depth with the Indonesian Ministry of State-Owned Enterprises to improve the capacity and competitiveness of Indonesian government agencies.

With its current trajectory, IMD Asia-Oceania sees Vietnam as a country with great growth potential. Therefore, IMD Asia-Oceania wishes to further enhance contact and exchange with SCIC to promote cooperation opportunities in line with the training criteria of both sides.

On SCIC's side, Mr. Le Thanh Tuan welcomed the interest and goodwill for cooperation from the IMD Asia-Oceania delegation. Mr. Le Thanh Tuan also affirmed that in the process of restructuring and improving the efficiency of state-owned enterprises as well as effectively implementing SCIC's Development Strategy, the coordination of leading corporate training organizations like IMD will be highly necessary. At the same time, he also shared more information with the delegation about the scale of operations of some large, high-potential Vietnamese enterprises under SCIC's management such as Vinamilk and Sabeco. Through this, Mr. Tuan expressed his desire that after this meeting, the two sides will further enhance contact to exchange information to develop optimized, suitable training programs, as well as open IMD courses for SCIC leaders and affiliated enterprises. Mr. Le Thanh Tuan also affirmed that SCIC is ready to act as a bridge to support and create the most favorable conditions for the two sides to cooperate in the long term.

At the end of the working session, Deputy General Director Le Thanh Tuan and IMD Asia-Oceania Dean Dr. Misiek Piskorski expressed their sincere thanks for the time as well as the very practical and useful information shared on the activities and development prospects of SCIC and IMD in the coming time. They also committed to maintaining a close partnership and regularly exchanging on high-quality training cooperation opportunities, towards the realization of sustainable development goals.
