Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates and executives of UAE corporations visit at SCIC

On June 6, 2023, H.E. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economy of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and executives of UAE corporations paid a visit to SCIC in Ha Noi. 

Accompanying the UAE delegation were H.E. Dr. Bader Abdulla Al Matrooshi, UAE Ambassador to Vietnam, H.E. Jamal Saif Al Jarwan, Secretary General of the UAE International Investors Council, senior officials from the UAE Ministry of Economy and executives of UAE corporations operating in the fields of ports, energy, agriculture, finance…, such as Abu Dhabi Ports Group, Mubadala Energy, AMEA Power, Masdar, Burjeel Holding, ADNOC Global Trading, Elite Agro, DMCC...

On SCIC's side, there were H.E. Mr. Nguyen Chi Thanh, Chairman of the Board of Members, H.E. Mr. Nguyen Quoc Huy, Chief Executive Officer, the Board of Members, the Board of Directors, and representatives from SCIC departments.

At the meeting, SCIC Chairman introduced to UAE investors about investment opportunities in Viet Nam through the purchase of corporate shares in SCIC's divestment portfolio as well as investment cooperation in the fields of seaports, airports, energy, highways… The Chairman also discussed about the consideration of establishing a joint investment fund in the field of mutual interest such as infrastructure sector in Viet Nam.

The two Leaders took time to take note of comments from representatives UAE corporations about their interest in Viet Nam as well as investment projects already implemented in Asia. Most of them, including Abu Dhabi Port Group, Mubadla Energy, AMEA Power, Elite Agro, Burjeel Holding…, have invested and successfully operated projects in the fields of ports, energy (solar energy, wind energy), agriculture, oil and gas exploitation and supply... in many Asian countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, Philippines, Malaysia... and wish to expand their investment in Viet Nam.

SCIC Chairman was delighted with the sharing and interest from UAE corporations in the Vietnamese market. According to H.E. Nguyen Chi Thanh, there are two ways to examine and explore investment potentials in Viet Nam. One is the investment cooperation with SCIC-linked enterprises through purchasing their divested shares. The other is co-investment with leading Vietnamese enterprises in interested field. Accordingly, SCIC will be willing to share information on SCIC's divestment portfolio and assist UAE corporations to connect with a number of top Vietnamese SOEs in the fields of energy, seaports, mining such as EVN, PVN, VINACOMIN, VIMC... for further discussion.

At the end of the meeting, H.E. Nguyen Chi Thanh and H.E. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi agreed to instruct relevant departments and businesses to keep paying attention and coordination between the two sides to implement the contents of discussion at the meeting./.
