The State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) hosts a seminar on “Promoting State Shareholders’ Role in Management of Joint Stock Companies.
On 09/08/2015 in Hanoi – the State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) held a seminar on "Promoting the State Shareholders’ Role in Management of Joint-Stock Company" with the participation of senior managers who are SCIC’s state capital ownership representatives at our portfolio companies in the North of Vietnam, SCIC’s leaders, foreign and domestic financial experts, consultants.
The purpose of the seminar is to improve the efficiency of the State capital management in enterprises and promote the relationships between SCIC and the State Capital Ownership Representatives at enterprises. This seminar is an important part of activities to celebrate SCIC’s 10th-year anniversary.
International Guest Speakers at the Seminar
At the seminar, Guest speakers and Experts discussed some issues: Changes in shareholders’ role in Vietnam Enterprise Law 2014 – Promoting the active role of state shareholder; Sharing of good practices on promoting shareholders’ role; recent changes in Enterprise Law on shareholders’ role and their influences on Vietnamese Joint Stock Company. Regarding the representatives of the state capital in enterprises, the State capital ownership representatives have been shared some changes in regulations on state capital ownership representative at joint stock companies; Restructuring enterprises to improve the efficiency of enterprises – Role of the shareholder representatives.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hong Hien, Deputy General Director of SCIC: "As a shareholder of enterprises, SCIC would like to share with state holdings ownership representatives at SCIC-linked-companies some practical experience, updated information on policy changes to promote their roles in enhancing management capacities, thereby improving the efficiency and value of enterprises. This is one of the main contents that SCIC always try to exchange to our portfolio companies in nearly 10 years, since our establishment in 2005".
At the seminar, SCIC also presented the “Voting Guidelines” in which representatives will be instructed to vote on issues related to General meeting of Shareholders, Board of Directors ... The Economic Research Institute of Japan (JERI) has supported SCIC in drafting the “Voting Guidelines” in the framework of project "Enhancing Corporate Finance Management Capacity to Implement SOE Restructuring” funded by the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) .
