Nguyen Xuan Phuc's official visit to Japan to to attend the 10th Mekong-Japan Summit Meeting, SCIC's delegation had a meeting with representatives from JICA at JICA's headquarters in Tokyo. In the meeting, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chi, SCIC's Chairman, highly appreciated the effectiveness of the Project “The Project for Enhancing Corporate Finance Management Capacity to Implement SOE Restructuring” in the 2014-2017 period. Accordingly, the two publications on Voting Guideline (VG) and Corporate Governance Code (CGC) have been considered as useful tools for SCIC to introduce advanced corporate governance for SCIC’s portfolio companies. In addition, under the Project framework, the Key Risk Indicators (KRIs) are also considered as an effective tool for SCIC to gauge risk level, support the indicator of potential risks that may have adverse impacts on SCIC’s achievement of business goals. KRIs were officially approved by SCIC's Management in December 2016 and have come into effect since 2017. Given the positive appraisal of the results obtained from the Project supported by JICA in the 2014-2017 period and the demand for technical assistances for SCIC’s other operating areas, especially the divestment process, Mr. Nguyen Duc Chi suggested that JICA consider extending another technical assistance project for SCIC.

On behalf of JICA, Mr. Sawada, Deputy Director General, Industrial Development and Public Policy Department, said that JICA recognizes the positive results of the Project for SCIC's operation and that of SCIC’s portfolio companies. Regarding the suggestion of providing further technical assistance for SCIC, Mr. Sawada agreed to maintain the close relationship between JICA and SCIC to identify appropriate technical assistance programs for SCIC under projects that JICA will implement in Vietnam.
